  • Recently on January 13th—the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Biden administration cannot enforce a requirement for employees at large businesses to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing and wear a mask on the job. (apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-business-health-eb5899ae1fe5b62b6f4d51f54a3cd375)

    • The Supreme Court’s conservative majority concluded that the administration overstepped its authority by seeking to impose Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) vaccine-or-test rule on U.S. businesses with at least 100 employees.

    • More than 80 million people would have been affected.

    • However, the court is allowing the administration to proceed with a vaccine mandate for most health care workers in the U.S.

  • There is an undeniable tension felt across the nation between vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

  • As the Omicron variant of COVID-19 produces a spike in cases nationwide, about three-quarters of Americans are already vaccinated against the coronavirus, and two-thirds of those have gotten booster shots.

  • Federal, state and private mandates have created difficult situations. (www.foxnews.com/politics/vaccine-mandates-us-vulnerable-omicron-surge)

    • If workers in some businesses, industries or branches of the military did not comply with mandates to get vaccinated by a certain deadline in order to combat the spread of COVID-19, then they have been let go or discharged.

    • Due to this reason, these businesses, industries and military branches have struggled dealing with the loss of certain personnel.

    • We have also witnessed employers trying to handle the lack of employees and existing employees testing positive for coronavirus and/or becoming very ill with the virus.

  • Mask and vaccine mandates have helped reduce the number of positive cases somewhat, but we haven’t seen them become a definite solution towards completely absolving coronavirus.

  • Why is AFA against vaccine mandates?

    • To clarify, AFA is not against the vaccine itself; they are against the mandates.

    • Every employee has a sacred right of conscience.
